How to choose suitable refractory materials?

When selecting refractory materials for masonry in flame furnaces, the following aspects should be mainly considered:

1. Working temperature. Different types of flame furnaces or different parts of the same flame furnace have different working temperatures. When selecting refractory materials for masonry, different types and grades of refractory materials should be used.

2. Bear the load. Lightweight bricks and insulation bricks with lower compressive strength cannot be placed between the arch foot bricks and arch foot beams of the arch top furnace, or between the high furnace wall and the foundation. When selecting materials for load-bearing or load-bearing parts under high temperature conditions, the load softening point of the material should be considered.

3. Temperature stress. For masonry or parts with large and frequent temperature changes, such as burner bricks, refractory materials with good thermal stability should be selected.

4. Mechanical damage. Some masonry structures, such as the bottom of a circular furnace, need to consider the impact and friction of the workpiece during loading and discharging. High alumina bricks or chromium ore sand can be used for construction.

5. Chemical erosion. For example, in push type continuous heating furnaces with uniform heating beds and solid bottom furnaces, it is best to use magnesium bricks for masonry due to erosion (alkaline) caused by iron oxide scale and slag. At the same time, it is also necessary to consider the chemical reactions between different refractory bricks under high temperature conditions. For example, it is best to use high alumina bricks to separate clay bricks from magnesium bricks.
